Collecting information from people affected by Repwest, U-Haul, and SafeStor storage insurance claim denials, delayed claims, underpaid claims, damaged belongings, water damage, mold, mildew, and unfair claim handling.
DENIEDMy name is Sean Lee, and I created this website after my Repwest / U-Haul / SafeStor storage insurance claim, Claim ID 04162989-2025, was denied.
I had an outdoor storage unit, and I paid for insurance/protection coverage. I allege that my stored property was damaged and contaminated by water, mold, mildew, dirt, debris, and related storage conditions.
After the loss, I was told the claim would not cover atmospheric damages, but I believe that position was assumed without anyone properly coming to inspect my property in person.

My property was damaged after staff members were cleaning units near mine, including activity involving power washing, leaf blowing, and maintenance work. I also understand electrical maintenance was going on around the same time.
My belongings became wet, damaged, mildewed, moldy, destroyed, blackened, contaminated, and smelly. Repwest claimed they could not see water damage in the pictures, even though I believe the water damage and contamination are clear from the evidence.
I allege that water, dirt, debris, and contamination were blown or pushed into my unit and onto my belongings while nearby units were being cleaned and maintenance was occurring.
I believe I was forced to do the work the insurance company and claim professionals should have handled, including documenting, photographing, listing, valuing, and organizing the entire loss.

I was told to throw everything away, and I have proof of that. I relied on what I was told and disposed of nearly everything because the property was damaged, contaminated, and unsafe to keep.
I lost almost everything I owned, except for a few items I initially believed might still be salvageable. I later realized that even those remaining items were also damaged or destroyed.
I lost my childhood collections, sports cards, cards collected since I was a kid, autographs, memorabilia, furniture, electronics, game systems, work equipment, clothing, and other items with sentimental, collectible, personal, and replacement value.
I purchased new boxes to try to save what I could, and U-Haul has transaction and receipt records showing that I bought those boxes. I also asked for and paid for a truck so I could temporarily put my belongings inside while I continued taking pictures, sorting through the damage, packing whatever could possibly be saved, and separating destroyed items into a trash pile.
I added up the values of the damaged items and then depreciated the values correctly and honestly. I did not simply claim inflated numbers. I made a good-faith effort to calculate the values fairly, document the loss, and present the claim as accurately as possible.
I attempted to resolve my claim professionally and in good faith. I was trying to compromise, settle the matter fairly, and come to a reasonable agreement before taking further action. I even tried to settle for less than the full amount because I needed to pay bills, recover from the loss, and stabilize my life financially.
Claim correspondence preserved in my evidence file.
Claim communications preserved in my evidence file.

I am not publishing private employee email addresses on this website. The exact emails, claim records, denial materials, and communications are preserved for attorney review, regulatory complaints, and any legal filing.
Because of the time, stress, and pressure caused by trying to handle this denied claim and organize the evidence myself, I lost my job and suffered serious financial hardship. This claim denial did not only affect my property. It affected my income, my family, my stability, and my ability to recover from the loss.
Repwest publicly states that it handles SafeStor claims involving stored goods and provides claim-handling services to U-Haul through three field claim offices located in Phoenix, Omaha, and Philadelphia.
Repwest’s own website describes SafeStor as low-cost storage insurance that covers loss or damage to stored goods from listed major perils including flood and leaking water.

Describe what happened, when it happened, the storage location, whether the unit was indoor or outdoor, and what evidence you have.
Save the denial letter, emails, policy language, photos, receipts, inventory, and any communication showing what explanation you were given.
State whether an adjuster or representative came to inspect the damaged property, or whether the decision was made from photos only.
Explain whether you had to photograph, inventory, value, depreciate, and organize the entire claim without meaningful claim assistance.
I am asking everyone affected by Repwest, U-Haul, SafeStor, or similar insurance claim denials to come forward so we can gather evidence, identify patterns, and determine whether legal action should be filed.
